Early Chinese Intellectual History and Literature Research is a collection of essays on the early history of Chinese thought and related literature, comprising a total of thirty-two essays. Of these, six are related to the Analects, four to the I Ching, four to the Book of Documents, three to the Tao Te Ching, five to the Book of Rites, four to the Mencius, and six to the Xunzi. The primary approach includes textual analysis, phonology, and exegesis, aiming to investigate and address critical issues in the history of thought. On this basis, it clarifies many misconceptions accumulated by later generations in the intellectual history. The book’s distinctive feature is its approach of solving major problems in the intellectual history through elementary philological methods.
