From May 25th to May 31st, the 2023 Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the first time for China to participate in an ASEAN book fair as guest of honor. More than 150 editors and copyright managers from more than 30 Chinese publishers took part in the Book Fair. Qiu Xianqing, President of Tsinghua University Press (TUP), Sun Yu, Associate General Editor of TUP, and Liu Chang, Copyrights Manager of TUP, participated in this book fair and held talks with a number of foreign publishers.
Qiu Xianqing, President of Tsinghua University Press, delivers a speech at the China-ASEAN Forum on Cultural Exchanges and Cooperation
Qiu was invited to attend the China-ASEAN Forum on Cultural Exchanges and Cooperation, where he delivered a speech entitled "Strengthening Exchanges and Cooperation, Deepening Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations". In his speech, Qiu introduced the current cooperation between Tsinghua University Press and ASEAN countries, and shared his thoughts and plans on expanding international cooperation and cultural exchanges.
Associate General Editor Sun Yu and Copyrights Manager Liu Chang introduced books from Tsinghua University Press to foreign publishers during the China-ASEAN Copyright Matchmaking Conference
Using this book fair as a platform for copyright trade and international exchange, Tsinghua University Press presented 68 titles, such as History of Chinese Architecture: from Pre-Qin Period to Late Qing Dynasty, Language, Brain Evolution and Cognition and Shan-Hai Ching on the exhibition, and introduced them to a number of ASEAN publishers during the fair.
Tsinghua University Press has cooperated with ASEAN countries via copyright trade since 2002. Tsinghua University Press viewed this book fair as an opportunity to better meet the needs of ASEAN markets and readers, strengthen copyright trade and promote cultural exchanges. In the future, Tsinghua University Press will continue to bring forth more titles that ASEAN readers will enjoy.
