Shanghai, July 18--At the "AI for the Real World" forum during the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), YUAN Yang, Associate Professor at Tsinghua University's Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences, delivered a keynote speech--Calculus of Intelligence: A Theoretical Framework for Agents and unveiled iFuture, a new academic journal focusing on artificial intelligence(AI), alongside its supporting platform, Oscholar, demonstrating a fresh approach to academic publishing and research paradigms in the age of AI.

Launched by Tsinghua University in 2026 , iFuture is led by Turing Award laureate and Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Professor Andrew Chi-Chih Yao as Editor-in-Chief. The journal focuses on foundational AI theories and cutting-edge interdisciplinary "AI+" research, aiming to become a globally recognized, high-impact platform for scholarly innovation, with a particular emphasis on community-validated, transformative research. Its scope spans core algorithms to AI applications in biology, materials science, and energy, with the goal of fostering deeper collaboration across the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
Underpinning iFuture as both its technological foundation and research ecosystem, Oscholar is an AI-native academic platform that embeds artificial intelligence designed to support scholarly communication and collaboration at every stage of the research journey. It doesn't just cultivate a vibrant community of emerging researchers--it transforms workflows, applying AI to everything from manuscript preparation and peer review to revision and tailored recommendations. Oscholar addresses longstanding efficiency challenges in traditional publishing, significantly expanding publishing capacity while accelerating the dissemination and validation of high-quality research.

Oscholar will soon launch its official version, with the community's most widely discussed and impactful research contributions selected for formal publication in iFuture. Published by Tsinghua University Press (TUP) and distributed globally through its independent digital platform SciOpen, iFuture and Oscholar made their international debut at WAIC 2026. In his remarks, Professor YUAN invited researchers working in AI and related disciplinary fields to follow iFuture and adopt Oscholar, calling on them to help build a new academic ecosystem. The showcase reflects China's commitment to pioneering next-generation research infrastructure and exploring new models of academic publishing in the age of AI.
