The 7th Medical Paper Writing Training Course was successfully held

On November 30, 2024, the 7th Medical Paper Writing Training Course organized by Tsinghua University Press, was held online. More than 15,000 audiences participated in the Course online. TANG Liuying, researcher of Institute of Viral Disease Prevention and Control of China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Associate Chief Editor of Infectious Medicine, GUO Xianhua, Director of Academic Journal Department of Institute of Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Medicine of China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, ZHANG Xin, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of China University Science and Technology Journal Research Association, HONG Weihua, General Manager of Rongtong Medical Journal Publishing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Director of Medical Journal Center, CHEN Guodong, Chief physician of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and Executive Editor of Organ Medicine, CHEN Lin, President of Beijing Institute of Neurorepair Industry Innovation and Executive Editor of Journal of Neurology, GAO Bo, Director of Imaging Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University and Executive Editor of iRADIOLOGY, presided over the training course.

LI Jun, the Vice President of the 6th Council of China Journal Association, ZHANG Tieming, the Chief Editor of the Journal Center of the Social Affairs Department of Beijing Forestry University, and ZHAO Xin, the President of Tsinghua University Press, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the training course.

LI Jun delivered a speech named “Journal destiny with our motherland and keep pace with the times”. He hoped that the editorial board and editors of medical journals could be academic gatekeepers, and constantly strengthen their own abilities, expecting students to gain more academic achievements for the development of our country.

ZHANG Tieming mentioned that medical writing and publishing is of great significance but faces many challenges. He hoped that students could learn from the courses and better integrate it into writing and scientific research.

ZHAO Xin reviewed the history of the training course, emphasizing that it started with disease control personnel and had developed into an influential brand activity. He also introduced the achievements of Tsinghua University Press in journal development, such as having multiple journals selected for national promotion plans and launching an independently developed digital publishing platform.

Medical Experts and scholars from all over the country, such as YU Xuejie, a professor at Wuhan University and chief editor of Infectious Medicine, MA Fei, Director of the Internal Medicine Treatment Center of Cancer Hospital of China Academy of Medical Sciences and Chief editor of Cancer Innovation, SHI Jiong, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China (Anhui Provincial Hospital) and Executive Editor of Brain Science Advances, and HU Yong, Director of Clinical Electrophysiology Laboratory, Soft Robotics and Intelligent Medicine Laboratory and Executive Editor of Journal of Neurorestoratology, etc. contributed valuable and practical insights during the sessions.

SUN Yu, Deputy General Editor of Tsinghua University Press, praised the profound academic backgrounds and solid writing skills of the invited experts, expressing hope that the students would master the essence of the training. She noted the significant growth of the training course from a modest beginning with only 100 participants to now attracting tens of thousands of online viewers, underscoring its commitment to public welfare and service to the medical community. Looking ahead, she expressed high hopes for Tsinghua’s medical journals to foster outstanding Chinese doctors and scientists, amplifying Chinas voice in the international academic arena and demonstrating its influence and value in the age of AI.
