Copyright
The copyright holder of the whole journal and design is TUP or the Editorial Office. The copyright holder of an article could be as follows:
● The authors. Commonly, a publication is released as open access content. The authors will sign an OA license agreement in accordance with the Journal’s policies.
● TUP, the Editorial Office, or the society. The authors should consult the Journal’s submission guidelines before submitting the manuscript and sign the copyright transfer agreements before publication.
Open Access
Articles published by TUP are usually distributed under the following license:
CC BY: This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows commercial use.
CC BY-NC: This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes only and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.
CC BY-NC-SA: This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes only and only so long as attribution is given to the creator. If you remix, adapt, or build upon the material, you must license the modified material under identical terms.
CC BY-NC-ND: This license enables reusers to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format in unadapted form only, for noncommercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.
Permissions
It is a common practice to reuse the published figures, tables or portions of text and/or illustrations in new publications, but only if the authors of the new publication obtain permission from copyright holders. Please check the copyright information of the specific materials or contact the Editorial Office.
For materials published by TUP:
● Authors could reuse their article in their new works and use and share their article for scholarly purposes without permission from TUP, whoever is the copyright holder.
● When authors are copyrighted, they can use and share their article for noncommercial purposes, and only materials licensed with CC BY are granted commercial use or distribution.
● When authors are not copyrighted, they are usually prohibited from distributing the final published article immediately on either commercial or noncommercial networks.
● Authors should seek permission from the copyright holder or reuse within the OA license if material is published by TUP under third-party permission.
● TUP is a signatory of STM Permissions Guidelines and will provide permission according to the guidelines.
For materials submitted to TUP journals:
● Authors should confirm that they hold the full copyright of or are permitted by their institutes to publish the submitted manuscript.
Authors who want to use third-party material when publishing with TUP should obtain permission from the copyright holder and provide written evidence at submission.
